Fiji FA pleased with U20 players

The Fiji Football Association has been impressed with the performance of its Vodafone Under-20 national reps in the Fiji Airways OFC Champions League currently underway.

Ba striker Saula Waqa, who is part of the U20 side, is currently the leading goal scorer in the tournament with five goals.

Suva’s Nickel Chand also put in a polished performance in the three pools games, the Whites played.

Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel says it’s all about development work.

“So this is very positive for us and the more game time they have the better it is and this is our future national team and this is what we banking on so that they keep on playing and that is how we will improve our rankings and we play international matches and this is the future for us.”

Meanwhile, Vodafone Ba faces New Zealand club, Team Wellington tomorrow in the semi-finals at 7pm at the ANZ Stadium.

Prior to this clash, defending champions Auckland City from New Zealand takes on New Caledonia’s Gaitcha in the first semi-final at 3:30pm.

The Fiji Airways OFC Champions League final will be held at the same venue on Sunday at 7pm.
