Fiji extends winning streak in pool stages

December 12, 2015 11:04 pm

The Vodafone Fiji 7s side has extended its unbeaten streak in the pool stages of the HSBC World Sevens Series to 33 games.

National coach Ben Ryan was pleased with the team’s performance in the pool stages of the Cape Town 7s in South Africa and says it will carry a lot of weight heading into the play-off s from tonight.

“It’s been a pretty good day actually. We didn’t start brilliantly; we’ve had three good wins but the atmosphere in the changing before the last pool game was spot on; it’s the sort of momentum that we want into Day 2. You don’t win tournaments in Day 1 but you do carry some momentum and that’s 33 group games that we’ve won, so there’s some really good consistency that’s coming through.”
