Fiji does well on final day of PG as PNG reign

Team Fiji finished the last day of the Pacific Games on a high note.

The Fiji Men’s and Women’s Hockey teams, The Fiji Pearls netball team and the Men’s Bowling Triples team won Gold in Papua New Guinea yesterday.

Meanwhile, Papua New Guinea has won the overall medal tally for the XV Pacific Games that drew to a close last night.

PNG scooped a total of 88 Gold medals, 66 Silver and 60 bronze with an overall of 217 medals.

The French territory of New Caledonia came second with 59 gold medals, 50 silver and 56 bronze, a total of 167 medals.

Tahiti came third with 39 Gold medals, 34 silver and 40 bronze a total of 113 medals.

Fiji came fourth with 33 gold, 44 silver and 37 bronze a total of 114 medals.

Samoa finished in fifth place with 17 gold, 23 silver and 11 bronze a total of 51 medals.

The next Pacific Games will be held in 2019 in Nuku’alofa, Tonga.
