Fiji claim Oceania 7s title

Fiji took out the Oceania 7s title after defeating New Zealand 21-7 in the final.

New Zealand raced to an early lead after Tomasi Cama finished off a spectacular passage of player to dot down the opening try but failed to add the extras.

Fiijan forward Sitiveni Waqa replied soon after following a neat offload in the tackle by Viliame Mata.

Captain Nasoni Roko added the conversions to take a 7-5 lead.

NZ were reduced to 6 men after Cama was sin binned for a late tackle on Jerry Tuwai just before halftime.

Vatemo Ravouvou scored a remarkable individual try in the opening seconds of second spell and Tuwai added the extras for Fiji to inch ahead 14-5.

Niko Verekauta’s first touch of the ball after replacing Sikeli Vuruna resulted in a try to increase Fiji’s tally.

Tuwai added the extras for the final score line of 21-5.

Samoa claimed the 3rd place playoff while New Zealand was crowned Oceania Women’s champions.
