Fiji beats Samoa by nine runs

Cricket Fiji still has a chance of qualifying to the next stage of the qualifiers after bagging its second win over Samoa by nine runs in the East Aisa Pacific Sub Regional World T20 qualifiers at Albert Park in Suva.

Fiji Captain Sekove Raivoka says after their loss to Papua New Guinea, the team has learned its lesson and will come strong in the remaining matches.

PNG and Vanuatu have set the standards and we are looking up to them beating Vanuatu was a good gave the boys good morale and I think we’ll stick to our game plan to win every game that comes our way.”

Fiji won the toss plus opted to bat first and scored 139 runs in 20 overs.

Fiji’s Peni Vuniwaqa was the top batsman scoring 27 runs.

In reply, Samoa managed to score 130 runs with one wicket to spare in 20 overs.

Fiji will play Vanuatu tomorrow at 9:30am while Samoa takes on PNG at the same time.

In the afternoon, Fiji faces PNG at 1:30pm while Samoa plays Vanuatu at the same time.

All games will be played at Albert Park.
