Fiji beats New Caledonia for best ever finish

The Vodafone Fiji Under-19 women’s football side defeated New Caledonia 2-1 in its last match at the Oceania Championships in New Zealand today.

Two goals from Captain, Luisa Tamanitoakula was enough to give Fiji their third victory in the tournament.

The win sees Fiji finish with a silver medal behind New Zealand in the tournament.

Tamanitoakula won the player of the tournament while Goalkeeper Ateca Tuwa was given the Golden Glove award for an outstanding performance throughout the tournament.

In another match today, New Zealand thumped Tonga 9-nil.
