Fiji Bati thrash Wales

The Vodafone Fiji Bati side thrashed Wales 72-6 at the Rugby League World Cup last night.

It was an outstanding performance by the Bati outscoring their opponents 14 tries to one.

Eloni Vunakece, Suliasi Vunivalu, Henry Raiwalui, Salesi Faingaa, Taane Milne and Marcelo Montoya scored a try each while Viliame Kikau grabbed two tries in the first spell.

Jarryd Hayne scored the first try of the second spell to set a new record of 14 tries scored at the World Cup by an individual player.

Vunivalu scored two more tries to complete his hatrick while Taane Milne, Joe Lovodua and Ben Nakubuwai added a try each.

This is Fiji’s biggest win at a World Cup.

The Bati plays Italy in their next match on Friday.

Meanwhile, in other matches played yesterday, Italy thumped USA 46-nil while PNG edged Ireland 14-6.
