The Fiji Women’s Under-15 Fiji team is aiming to be among the top four in the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) U15 championship that starts today in Port Moresby despite its first time exposure to international level.

The championship is also the first phase of qualification for the 2020 FIBA under 17 World cup.

In an interview with FIBA, Fiji Team manager Apenisa Naitini says both Boys and Girls are well prepared and are hard on training in gearing up for the tournament.

“We aim to finish top 4 of the tournament with boys and girls. We know Australia and New Zealand will be amongst the toughest teams, but we are not ruling out any other teams out. The girl’s category is a round-robin so they have a game every day including one of the days they will play two games which will be against New Zealand and Australia. However, we will take it one game at a time.”"

Fiji will be playing its first match against Papua New Guinea tomorrow.
