Fiji Airways mens 7s coach Gareth Baber believes the upcoming Oceania 7s tournament next month will be a testing ground for the national side for the 2018/19 World Rugby 7s Series in December.
Baber says he has kept his selection doors open and hope players can set a bench mark as they will compete amongst Commonwealth gold medalist New Zealand and Australia in the two-day tournament.
“I think we have to ensure that we play to our top of our level all the times so that’s exactly what we going to take this tournament for and treat it like HSBC 7s and to go for the same process to make sure that’s exactly to be going to the HSBC.”
The Oceania 7s will be held on the 9th to the 10th of next month at ANZ Stadium.
Meanwhile, the 2018/2019 World Rugby 7s Series kicks off in Dubai on the 29th of next month to the 1st of December.
