Fiji 7s team out to set its platform

The Fiji Airways men’s 7s team is looking forward to setting its platform ahead of the World Rugby Series next month.

Fiji 7s Captain Kalione Nasoko says the players have been combining well and are ready for the Oceania 7s which kicked off at ANZ Stadium today.

“We have been gelling well in the team. We have been playing together in some of the local tournaments so the players have been combining well as a group and hopefully we will do well this weekend.”

Fiji opens its Oceania 7s campaign against Solomon Islands at 4.57pm and then faces Papua New Guinea at 8.06 tonight.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Airways women’s 7s side has made a winning start in the tournament defeating Cook Islands 21-7 in their first pool game.

In other games, New Zealand thumped New Caledonia 45-nil and Papua New Guinea defeated Samoa 19-17.

The Fijiana 7s side faces New Caledonia at 2.09pm.
