Fiji 7s team hopes to move up the standings

The Fiji Airways mens 7s side hopes to move up on the World Rugby Sevens Series standings after the Las Vegas tournament this weekend.

The side has 62 points and sits seven place behind New Zealand while South Africa maintains the lead with 77 points.

Fiji 7s Coach Gareth Baber says, they need to win the Las Vegas 7s to have some hopes to finishing in the top two at the end of this season.

“To take on the hills of New Zealand and South Africa and put ourselves in a position by where we gain points and finish on the first or second spot. We never felt down in the couple of tournaments and we picked some backup like in Hamilton so now we want to capitalize on that.”

Meanwhile, Fiji begins its campaign in the Las Vegas tournament against Russia at 12.06pm on Saturday.

They then play France at 3.07pm and faces Kenya in their last pool match at 8.36am on Sunday.

The quarterfinal kicks off at 1.26pm on Sunday, while the semi-final begins at 9.12am next Monday and the final is secluded for 12.30pm.
