Fiji 7's sides make good start in Labasa

The two Fiji 7s squads competing in the Macuata Provincial 7s tournament in Labasa were in fine form in the opening round this morning.

The Fiji 1 side, which had the services of Osea Kolinisau, Isake Katonibau, Savenaca Rawaca and Pio Tuwai proved too strong for Red Diamond, winning 49-0.

The Fiji Two side consisted of fringe players such as Amenoni Nasilasila, Vatemo Ravouvou, Waisea Nacuqu and Viliame Mata, beat Bainivalu 38-0.

Wardens Gold and First Light Taveuni are shaping up to be two teams capable of giving the two national side a tough challenge.

Wardens Gold, led by former national extended squad member and Namosi halfback, Kelepi Namoua beat 3D X 22-0 while First Light defeated Northern Covenant 34-0.

The pool games will be completed later this afternoon and the finals will be held tomorrow.

The winning team will earn $3000 while the runners up collects $1500.
