Fiji 7s side to keep rival teams guessing

December 9, 2015 3:07 am

The Vodafone Fiji 7’s team will not commit to a single style of play throughout the nine remaining legs of the World Sevens Series.

Fiji hardly committed to rucks and mauls on its way to winning the Dubai leg last weekend.

Coach Ben Ryan says there are more tricks in place as Fiji hunts for a back-to-back title in the Cape Town 7s tournament this weekend.

“I think other teams are spending a lot of time on break downs and we don’t because we want to stay on our feet. There are a few things that we want to bring into our game that I think will be a new innovation in the 7’s game but I don’t think we are quite ready to put out in the series but it will be in the next couple of tournaments.”

The Cape Town 7’s starts on Saturday.

Fiji faces Scotland at 9:59pm before meeting Russia at 1:20am on Sunday.

The final pool match will be against Argentina at 5:03am.

The Cup quarterfinals will begin at 11:04pm while the semifinals begin at 3:34am on Monday and the Cup final will kick-off at 6:30am.

You can watch the entire tournament live on FBC TV and catch live commentaries of Fiji’s matches on Radio Fiji One and BULA FM.
