Fiji 7s reacts to new scrum format

October 11, 2012 7:02 pm

The Fiji 7s team will not let the new scrum format that has been implemented by the IRB affect their preparations for this weekend’s Gold Coast 7s.

Assistant coach Timoci Wainiqolo says despite the new rules, this will help the team from making mistakes.

It’s the engage rule that has been replaced by the touch set call. Nothings changed much and everything is normal and we will all just depend on the referees call.

The ‘crouch-touch-set’ call, will replace the ‘crouch-touch-pause-engage’ and is designed to minimize collapses and re-sets in scrums.

Wainiqolo adds injured duo Levani Botia and Osea Kolinisau are fit to play.

Fiji takes on Scotland in their first pool game at 2:42pm on Saturday.
