Fiji had earlier beaten Ireland 38 – 12 in the semifinal and hammered Canada 40 – 7 in the quarterfinal.

Coach Gareth Baber says they’re in a good position now in achieving their goal.

“We’re feeling good now. We try and do what South Africa did last year which is consistency and we did it this year we pushed it all away and we’re in a good position this time.”

Captain Jerry Tuway thanked the Fijian supporters in London and also back at home.

“We’re so blessed that we have a lot of supporters here. Thank you so much for being here and cheer for us and also not forgetting the fans back home.”

Semi Radradra who was awarded the Man of the Final says it was the help from his teammates that carried him through this weekend.

“It’s been a while, I find it hard today. But just the help from the boys I was hanging in there and I know we trust each other and finally we got a win.”

Meanwhile, South Africa won the silver medal while Ireland won bronze.

The last tournament will be held in Paris next weekend where the winner of the World Sevens Series will be crowned.
