Fiji 7s aims for good start

September 23, 2014 12:22 am

The Vodafone Fiji 7s side will be looking to hit the ground running in the Gold Coast tournament next month.

Coach Ben Ryan says the outcome of the Gold Coast 7s could set the trend for the rest of the national side’s series campaign in the 2014/2015 season.

“We need to have as a goal; we need to get into the top 4 early. Historically in the IRB World Series, those top 4 teams that get in by round about the Port Elizabeth 7s, they end up don’t change much for the rest of the season. Those first 3 or 4 tournaments are extremely important. We have to hit the semifinals. As a coach, I would have liked to have a few more weeks’ preparation but I know we are also in there with a shot at the Gold Coast 7s.”

The Gold Coast 7s will be held on October 11-12.
