Fiji 7s aim to repeat rare feat

November 26, 2015 11:04 pm

The Vodafone Fiji 7s team will strive to repeat the rare feat of winning all its pool games in the World Sevens Series.

The national side achieved a 100 per cent unbeaten record in the group stages in all nine tournaments last season.

Team manager, Ropate Kauvesi says there are no guarantees on what the new season will bring with most teams using the World Series as a build-up to the 2016 Rio Olympics.

“Looking at these two days, we’re taking each game at a time. These 12 teams are preparing for the Olympics so we’re not taking things lightly. We going to go there, play to the way we always play and that’s with our offloads, our running game, to our style.”

The national side will hold two scrimmage sessions with the USA Eagles in Abu Dhabi next week before opening its Dubai 7s tournament campaign against Canada at 6pm next Friday.

You can watch the tournament live on FBC TV and tune into commentaries on Bula FM and Radio Fiji One.
