July 22, 2015 7:02 pm

The Fiji Broadcasting Corporation has secured the rights to televise the World Netball Championships live on FBC TV next month.

The tournament, which starts on August 7 in Sydney, Australia, will see FBC TV air 13 matches in total, which includes all of Fiji’s games, including the semi-finals and the final.

This will be the first time ever for FBC TV to show the World Cup of netball, and follows in the trend setting by the broadcaster in recent time of showing top class netball such as the Constellation Cup and the ANZ Championships.

FBC chief executive Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says the company as always wants to give all Fijians the best on free-to-air television.

“We are very proud of the fact that we are able to for the first time take the Netball World Cup to the places in Fiji who have never seen this before and hopefully there is some hidden talent in other parts of the country that was not exposed to this level of netball and it would encourage some people to take up Netball who could become the future of netball.”

The Fiji Pearls plays Wales in their first match on August 7 at 11.50am.
