England anticipates a tough quarterfinal

July 5, 2018 5:01 pm

Gareth Southgate says England must “make the most” of their World Cup opportunity in Russia, starting with Saturday’s quarter-final against an “older, more experienced” Sweden.

The match in Samara is England’s first quarter-final appearance since 2006.

A victory would earn England a semi-final meeting with Russia or Croatia.

Victory over Sweden would also hand England a first semi-final since 1990.

Meanwhile, in the quarterfinals, Uruguay plays France at 2am tomorrow and at 6am Brazil plays Belgium.

On Sunday at 2am Sweden plays England while Russia faces Croatia four hours later.

The semifinals will be played on next Wednesday and the final is scheduled for 16th of this month at 3am.
