Netball Fiji has started the ball rolling in preparing the national Under-21 side for the World Youth Championship in Botswana next year.

More than 60 players turned up for the first national trials at FMF Gymnasium in Suva this morning.

NF President Wainikiti Bogidrau says starting the selection process early will ensure they can groom the best players to compete in the WYC.

“Some of this players have been in our talent identification program since last year. Some have been playing in our top club teams, some in the district teams; we have some experienced players in here and there are some new talent, including two overseas-based players from New Zealand.”

40 players will be selected from today’s trials and will be provided a training program to follow.

Fiji will participate in a regional qualifier in Auckland in September, where the top three teams will qualify for the World Youth Championship in Botswana in August next year.
