Dubai 7's takes social media by storm

The World Sevens Series started off with a stunning win for Fiji at the Dubai 7’s and social media reacted accordingly.

40,000 tweets using #Dubai7s were sent out during the weekend’s action, with over 145 million impressions on social media. It seems with the Olympics on the horizon, rugby sevens is picking up fans quick.

It was the perfect opener to the revamped HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.
Stunning weather, huge crowds and incredible rugby on the pitch made the Dubai Sevens a tournament to remember on the road to Rio 2016.

While South Africa was unable to defend their title at the Dubai Sevens, former Springbok winger Breyton Paulse is sure they will be looking for revenge at Cape Town.

Meanwhile, at the Cape Town 7’s this weekend, the Vodafone Fiji side plays Scotland at 9.59pm Saturday, they play Russia at 1.20am Sunday and the final pool match is against Argentina at 5.03am Sunday.

The Cup quarter-finals starts at 11.04pm Sunday, the Cup semis start at 3.34am Monday while the Cup final will kick off at 6.30am Monday.
