Drua hopes for a first NRC semifinal win

October 19, 2018 6:00 pm

The Fiji Airways Drua team is aiming to go one better than last year’s performance and qualify for their first Australian National Rugby Championship final.

Last year, it was a bitter end to their debut after they were thumped 57-21 by Queensland Country in the NRC semi-final.

So far this year, their run in the competition has been a dream, topping the NRC table and dropping only one game.

Today’s semi-final with the Canberra Vikings could be the cherry on the top of an already better 2018 season for the Fijian team.

Drua coach Senirusi Seruvakula says they have learnt from their mistakes and have been improving game by game this season.

“I’m pretty happy with the captain’s run and we have done the clarity and its works and everyone understand what we’re doing and I believe the boys are ready for today.”

Aiming for their first final and ultimately the championship, Seruvakula says they want to finish on a high note.

The Drua take on the Viking this afternoon at 4pm at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
