Delana rewarded

Iliesa Delana’s struggles and dedication that saw him win gold at the 2012 Paralympics was rewarded today.

Rewards for Delana include a house from Housing Authority, cash rewards totalling $20,000.

The government giving $10,000 each to Delana and his coach Fred Fatiaki with HFC and ATH gicing $5,000 each to Delana.

This make Delana the only sportsperson to be rewarded in such a manner

This make a lot of things easier. Now I have the support of the government and I can do better now and achieve more.

President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau announced that Delana’s win had changed views on people with special need.

He says Delana is truly a Fiji hero.

Fiji is a small dot on the map. What you did has made fIji walk in hand in hand with rich countries which have all the riches and resources

Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama says Delana is an example of hardwork and sheer determination.

The proudest moment for me was when you held the Fiji flag in front of 80,000 people and the national anthem sung before millions in TV audience

Delana was hosted by the government to a celebration to mark his achievements at the Paralympics.
