Courts IDC Suva-Ba final abandoned

What an end to the 2012 Courts Inter District super premier finale at Govind Park between hosts, Ba and Suva.

This after Suva players had to be escorted out of Govind Park under very tight security by police officers in the second 10 minute of play gone in extra time.

The match had to be abandoned after the Ba players attacked linesman Kavitesh Behari and opted to walk out of the field disputing the goal scored by Suva defender Waisake Navunigasau in the second half of extra time.

Referee Andrew Achari awarded the goal but the Men in Black went for assistant referee Kavitesh Behari which started the scuffle on the touchline.

actions resulted in the games being halted and the Fiji FA later announced that there will be no presentation tonight as the games have been called off.

Police also stepped in to help stop the commotion but they couldn’t do much as they were outnumbered by the huge crowd.

Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel announced that they have gone with the decision made by the match officials and have given them the reason to abandon the final.

Both team were locked nil-all after normal time and headed for extra time.

The Suva team had to request for tight security as angry furious fans stayed to watch the commotion.

A decision will be made in the next Board of Control meeting.
