Cooper rates Ioane siblings

July 9, 2015 6:11 pm

New Zealand Maori All Blacks coach Colin Cooper has spoken highly of brothers, Akira and Reiko Ioane, who will start the match against the Flying Fijians.

The Ioane brother started off with sevens rugby under the guidance of coach Gordon Tietjens.

While Reiko is still with the Kiwi sevens side, Akira is now with the Blues Super Rugby franchise.

Cooper says the two are great prospects.

“Both exciting and Akira (Ioane) has gone to the Super Rugby very quickly and I don’t think he has even played ITM Cup but gone to the Blue sand played very very well. And Reiko (Ioane) obviously is the future in sevens so both the brothers are pretty special players.”

Another set of brothers in the starting XV are Marty and Damien McKenize.

The Flying Fijians will face the Maori All Blacks at 3pm tomorrow at the ANZ Stadium and you can catch the live commentary on Bula FM with the voice of rugby, Graham Eden.
