Development of youths in respective sports in the country is showing the country is in the right direction.

These are the words of Fiji National Sports Commission CEO Peter Mazey after the Under 20 football side’s maiden participation at the recent FIFA World Cup and the Under 19 cricket team also qualifying for the World Cup.

Mazey says the money spent in the development of sports is reaping fruits now.

“We are very committed in ensuring that we grow our youth. We have just seen the under 20 soccer and seen what has happened in football and with cricket doing the same and likewise with other sports, we now see growth.”

Meanwhile, a public holiday has been assigned for next Friday to commemorate sports in the country.
