Colombia thrashes Poland in football World Cup

Poland’s hopes for play in the knockout round of the football World Cup in Russia are over after being thrashed 0-3 by Colombia in the group stage this morning.

Earlier this morning, Senegal and Japan, the other two counties in Group H, tied 2-all.

Radio Poland reports, after emerging triumphant from their first games last Monday, Senegal, which beat Poland 2-1, and Japan, which beat Colombia 2-1, are ranked equal first with four points apiece ahead of their last group-round matches.

After beating Poland, Colombia has three points.

With two losses after two games, Poland has zero points.

Poland faces Japan at 2am Friday while at the same time Colombia plays against Senegal.

The winner and first runner-up from the group will continue to the knockout stage of the tournament.
