Chess pleased with growth of players

The Fiji Chess Federation is happy with the steady growth of players in its local competitions.

FCF President, Calvin Prasad says the majority of the new players are school students, who compete in the primary and secondary school grades.

Prasad says the influx of players is a welcome sight as it proves that chess is slowly gaining popularity in the country.

Local players will be competing in the Kundan Singh Open on Sunday at Tappoo City Level 4 in Suva.

A $300 total prize money is up for grabs in the Open, Primary and Secondary School grades.
