Chess players doing well in Australia

National Champion Candidate Master Calvin Prasad has increased his rank to No. 21 after scoring 3 wins and 2 draws off 6 rounds at the 2015 Oceania Zonal Chess Championship currently underway in Australia.

After a close loss to FIDE Master Dusan Stojic of Australia), Prasad bounced back by defeating New Zealand’s Timothy Rains .

In the Women’s Division, Women’s Candidate Master Gloria Sukhu pulled off a major upset when she outwitted upper-ranked Guo Zhi Lin of Australia with a series of well-calculated moves.

An additional 3 wins were recorded by different players from the Fiji camp by Round 6. .

At the end of 6 rounds, CM Sanmogam Goundar, CM Noel Adricula, WCM Gloria Sukhu and Tianata Terubea have 2 points each with 3 rounds of play remaining.
