Change the midfield: Stoddart

June 4, 2012 1:03 am

Scoring goals and major improvements in the midfield is warranted if Fiji wants to beat the Solomon Islands in the Oceania Nations Cup match this afternoon says soccer guru, Raymond Stoddart.

The man dubbed as the voice of soccer says Fiji’s ability to score goals is lacking.

“Consistency in goal scoring has been one of the major factors where we have not produced good strikers over the years. Although Fiji has played NZ already, playing the Solomons at Lawson Tama. It’s not an easy task for any team with the patriotic crowd behind the Solomons.”

Stoddart says Fiji has been failing miserably in the midfield. He suggests a change in the line-up is necessary.

“The basic mistakes by experienced players in Fiji is also a factor. Fiji’s weakness in the midfield. We have highlighted this before, Alvin Avinesh in the central midfield is weak.”
