The injury that prematurely ended Damien Oliver’s Bendigo Cup Day is not expected to impact the champion jockey’s Melbourne Cup Carnival.

Oliver was unable to take the ride on Lucky Fish in the final race of the day at Bendigo after he banged his foot on the gate heading out of the mounting yard and required medical treatment.

The champion rider limped back to the jockeys’ room with his foot bandaged and headed to Melbourne for x-rays, where Oliver was cleared.

The Melbourne Cup will be held next Tuesday at 5pm and you can watch it live on FBC TV and on FBC Sports.
