Seasoned Fiji Sevens skipper, Setefano Cakau will miss the Gold Coast leg in Australia next month.

The Fiji Rugby Union has confirmed Cakau will be leaving for Sri Lanka in two weeks time for work purposes.

Cakau says he had informed head coach, Alivereti Dere of his plans and has promised to return in time for the second leg of the series in Dubai.

The Digicel Fiji 7s team will be defending their title in Gold Coast and Cakau has wished them well.

Cakau will be accompanied by Digicel Fiji 7s team mate, Dan Rawaqa.

Dere is expected to name his captain next week after he releases the team list for the Gold Coast 7s.
