Fiji Bati rugby league rep Jayson Bukuya has been granted a release on compassionate grounds to return to Sydney by the New Zealand Warriors.

Bukuya, who joined the club from Cronulla Sharks this season, is expected to return to his old club for the 2015 season.

Australia media reports say Bukuya is in discussions to return to the Sharks.

Bukuya left the Sharks 12 months ago to take up a big-money deal from the Warriors and played some good football under Andrew McFadden during 2014.

But the homesick bug has bitten Bukuya and he has been in talks with Sharks officials about the possibility of a return to his roots in recent weeks.
