Some members of the Fiji Boxing Commission Board will be sacked.

Sports Minister Parveen Kumar revealed this in parliament this morning while clarifying the allocation of $50,000 given to the commission.

Opposition MP Viliame Gavoka questioned Kumar on how the allocation will be utilized as many local boxers don’t perform when they fight in New Zealand and Australia.

While replying to this, Kumar says some board members of the Fiji Boxing Commission are not doing their job and they will face the axe.

“At the outset let me say that as the Minister responsible, I’m not very happy with the work boxing is carrying out, unfortunately, we have some board members on the boxing commission and definitely they will be fired and that’s number one.”

The Minister says the government is working with the commission to try and further develop the sport and at the same time introduce a new boxing ring.
