South Pacific Boxing Promoter Freddy Chand says the bouts in Nadi on Saturday night were a success with the help of the Boxing Commission of Fiji.

Chand says the public can expect more in the future.

Boxing Commission of Fiji Chairman Subhash Appana says last Saturday was just the beginning of their plan to build the sport in Fiji.

Appana says in the future they will work more with promoters to insist the rules are followed and the fights professional.

“Tremendous program, we saw some very good fights. I think the matchmakers did a very good job, we have two more programs coming up this year. We’ll try our best to make improvements, but we’ll work on those. We have to be firm, there are rules to be followed and we will enforce those rules.”

Meanwhile, South Pacific Boxing promoter Freddy Chand says fans in Ba can expect two more boxing programs.

Savenaca Naliva defeated Joseph Kwadjo to win the vacant light heavyweight title Saturday and could soon be bound to defend his new title at home in Ba.
