The Boxing Commission of Fiji has issued a stern warning to boxing promoters to get approval from the commission before promoting a fight.

BCF Chairman Dr Subhash Appana says promoters need to understand there are rules in place as the commission will no longer tolerate this.

He adds that promoters need to work closely with BCF for the success of the promotions and development of the sport in the country.

“Firstly with BCF involvement we give its official approval. So anyone who sees this program knows that it already has official approval. In the past we’ve seen people announcing programs before programs were approved by us, by BCF, now that is not the right way to manage in any given situation. If you want good management you should make sure everything is done in the correct manner.”

Meanwhile, the South Pacific Boxing Promotion this weekend will feature a total of nine bouts.

The main bout will be between Savenaca Naliva taking on Joseph Kwadjo who will be fighting for the vacant light heavyweight title at Prince Charles Park in Nadi this Saturday.
