Boxing Rumble in the West next month

40 local amateur boxers are set to take the ring next month in the Western Amateur Boxing Championship.

Western Boxing Association Vice President Faiyaz Ali says they are looking at 20 bouts altogether.

“We had our program which was held in May with more a thousands of people coming in to watch the fight and support the youths and we had 69 fighters whom we registered under the Western Amateur Boxing Association but because of lack of time and more fighters coming in, we were not able to register them, now we giving the chance to those fighters who didn’t have a fight in their last promotion to come out in big numbers because we are having this championship especially for the Western fighters”.

Ali says this championship is a great boost as the interest is always there from the people.

The official weigh-in and medical check-up is from 8am to 10am in Sigatoka on the day of the fight.

The program is scheduled for August 6th at Cuvu Top.
