November 24, 2015 11:01 pm

Boxing will return to the Northern Division next month after a lapse of 12 years.

Westwood Boxing Promotions has put together the “Northern Rumble” program to take place on the 19th of December at Subrail Park with the main feature bout seeing Joseph Kwadjo taking on Opeti Tagi.

Promoter, Praneel Dass says it’s an exciting opportunity for fans in the Northern division to witness some high class boxing action in the ring.

Kwadjo says he is expecting Tagi to come out firing, after knocking out the latter’s brother, Joe Naleca earlier this year.

“I respect Opeti (Tagi) and he is a good boxer. He has faced a lot of good boxers overseas so he has a lot of experience. So I need to train hard and guess sacrifice myself in the gym, training and road run and learning in the gym.”

In the main supporting bout, Sebastian Singh will take on Tagi’s younger brother, Waisale Ratu.

A total of 12 fights are planned for the program in Labasa with 6 in the professional division and six amateur fights.
