Twenty three boxers from the central division will travel to Levuka today for a special fight program.

The event is organized by Fiji Amateur Boxing Association (FABA) as part of the National Heritage Week celebration.

The majority of the sluggers are in the Under-16 age grade, including six females and will go toe-to-toe with boxers in the Old Capital.

FABA chairman Major Samisoni Kafoa says the event carries much weight in reviving amateur boxing in the country.

“I was told this morning that there’s great expectations with a few posters put up in Levuka Town and with that, we are now preparing a team to send across.”

The amateur boxing program will begin at 2pm tomorrow at Peceli Hall in Levuka.
