Black Ferns wins Dubai 7s

The New Zealand women’s rugby sevens team has won the opening round of the World Series in Dubai, beating Australia 17-5 in the final.

In front of a packed house the Black Ferns Sevens took revenge for their Olympic final defeat, dominating their rivals to score three tries to one.

In other final match results, Russia beat England in the bronze medal final while Ireland defeated Spain 14-12 in the women’s trophy final

Meanwhile, the Fijiana 7s team lost to England 19-17 in the cup quarter finals.
Fiji defeated France 21-14 in its first pool game and was then beaten 19-10 by New Zealand.

The Fiji Women’s 7s team drew 17-17 with Ireland in its last pool match.

Fijiana’s Miriama Naiobasali placed 5th for the Top Try Scorer in Dubai.
