Unavailability of grounds and the poor condition of grounds in Fiji have always hampered the sport of cricket in Fiji.
Cricket Fiji CEO Sonny Henderson says they will soon start work on its own cricket pitch in Vatuwaqa.
Henderson says the funding was provided by the International Cricket Council with some help from the Sports ministry.
“Bhindi Park will be the new home of cricket. We are awaiting for the approval of the Water Authority of Fiji for the water and the sewerage plans. Once that is done we will start work on the park.”
Cricket Fiji is also getting ready to host the East Asia-Pacific under-17 tournament at the end of the month.
