Bese wins 2nd gold in record time

Younis Bese has set another record in the senior girls 200 meters at the Coca Cola Games in Suva.

The Gospel High School student beating the record she set in the heats event yesterday of 24.99 seconds with a new time of 24.68 seconds.

This is Bese’s second gold medal after winning the senior girls blue ribbon event last night.

Natabua High School’s Batinisavu Ulaiyata created an upset after beating Gospel High School’s Aaron Powell to win the seniors boys 200 meters gold medal.

Batinisavu stopped the clock at 21.59 seconds.

Powell, who won the gold medal in the 100 meters final yesterday, settled for the silver medal with Ratu Kadavulevu School’s Penijamini Narube winning the bronze.

Suva Grammar School’s Inia Sili also won his second gold medal at the 2015 Coca Cola Games after finishing first in the Senior Boys 800 meters final at the ANZ Stadium.

The 20 year old, who won gold in the senior boys 1500 meters yesterday, is the lone senior athlete in the SGS squad.

The win captivates a memorable outing for Sili as this will be his final year in the competition.

Meanwhile on the medal tally, Natabua High School and Jasper Williams High School continue to lead the boys and girls divisions respectively.

Natabua leads with 12 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze ahead of Queen Victoria School, which has 7 gold, 5 silver and 2 bronze.

Marist Brothers High School remains in third with 5 gold, 7 silver and 10 bronze.

In the girls division, Jasper Williams High School leads with 14 gold, 7 silver and 3 bronze.

Adi Cakobau School is second with 4 gold, 12 silver and 8 bronze.
Saint Josephs Secondary School is third with 3 gold 1 silver and 1 bronze.

Currently underway is the 4×100 meters relay finals.
