The Olympians versus Papua New Guinea OFC Olympic qualifier semi-final has turned out to be a battle of the coaches’ affair.
While the players have the final say in the end result of who makes the final, its Fiji coaches Imdad Ali, assistant Kamal Swamy and Fiji FA coaching director, Carlos Buzzetti versus PNG’s Frank Farina.
Swamy says they believe they know PNG’s weaknesses and have set up a game plan to counter them.
“They have got a great coach, Frank Farina is coaching them and we watched their game against New Zealand and they are a very compact side and he is an intelligent coach and he knows what to do but we have the expertise of Carlos Buzzetti who helps us a lot and the boys also learn a lot and it should be a great game against PNG.”
The Fiji U23s play PNG at 12noon followed by the second semi-final between New Zealand and Vanuatu at 3pm at Owen Delaney Park in Taupo.
