Basketball Fiji today received a major boost ahead of the FIBA–USP Under 19 Basketball Championships in Suva next week.
Pacific Energy gave the association $5000, which consists of $3000 cash and $2000 worth of fuel vouchers.
Basketball Fiji President Ioane Naivalarua says hosting the tournament is a big achievement for Fiji and the Fiji players will gain a lot from it.
“If you would note in our intent, it states a safe successful and an enjoyable championship with all participants returning home safely. We have a strong Fiji team but it is a development team but whatever it is, we are going to win and winning in our thinking comes in many forms. I am sure one of the great wins will be these young men and women of the under 19 teams will become better players at the end of the tournament.”
More than 350 players will take part in the tournament.
The one-week tournament will be held at the Vodafone Arena in Suva from Monday with the finals on Saturday.
