Basics the key for Fiji-PNG clash

The National Hockey Centre is hosting the battle of the Pacific Island teams for the top spot of the World Series League first round.

The Fiji women are currently taking on Papua New Guinea while the men’s game begins at 4pm.

Fiji women’s coach, Shaun Corrie says he’ll be counting on getting the basics right against PNG.

“We’ll adopt a simple game plan, keep a solid defence and reaction to turnover, just a simple gameplan, tighter defence and making use of every ball and every opportunity.”

The winner of the men’s and women’s games will qualify for round two of the World Series in India in February.

The Oceania Pacific Cup finals will be held tomorrow between Fiji and Australian Country teams.
