Former Flying Fijians Captain Seremaia Bai urged participants at the attending FASANOC Women in Sport Commission’s “Sports and Persons with Disabilities Workshop" to enjoy each day.
Seremaia who was invited by FASANOC’s Women in Sports Commission as a speaker informed participants on his experiences from being raised by a single parent to being a successful rugby player.
He says while people often like to praise his accomplishments, they also needed to know his story.
“Sometimes life can be hard and you will get low self-confidence and you will be used to hearing negative words especially as a young person.”
Fiji Paralympic Committee Executive Director, Joshko Wakaniyasi, also addressed the workshop and promoted sport as the first step in reversing the effects of Non-Communicable Diseases.
Joshko says that he believed that persons with disabilities have a higher prospect as medal potentials compared to able bodied athletes.
The one-day workshop, is targeting persons with disabilities which is themed on Physical Activity & Sport.
