Bad day for Singh

September 10, 2012 12:57 am

Fijian golfer Vijay Singh not only lost his grip on the early lead of the BMW Championship but failed to make it to the $10 million Fed EX Cup.

The 49-year-old Fijian fell apart on the back nine with three bogeys in a four-hole stretch to fall out of the top 30 at the championship.

A birdie on the final hole gave Singh a 73, but by then it was too late.

Singh started the final round tied for the lead with Phil Mickelson.

This was Singh’s second tournament after returning from health problems that had plagued him for three years.

Singh’s downfall meant Rory McIlroy claimed the BMW Championship and joined the elite company to play the Fed EX Cup.
