The Fiji Netball Under-21 side had a high level delegation welcome last night as the side arrived back from the World Youth Championship.

The Baby Pearls finished fourth, which is the best ever finish by any Fijian side at a world meet.

Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports Iliesa Delana says Fiji proved all odds wrong beating the top teams in the championship.

“Your talents have excelled and displayed courageous while facing stiff competition at the tournaments. No doubt Fiji Netball will also have proven that special ingredient works.”

Baby Pearls captain Episake Kahatoka says they have set a perfect platform for Fiji netball for the future.

“We set standard for the upcoming Under 21 Youth Championship which will be held in Suva so coach and management kept on pushing us.”

Meanwhile, Coach Vicky Wilson now turns her focus on preparing the Fiji Pearls for Pacific Nation Series.
