Fiji Airways men’s 7s coach Gareth Baber believes fans should think twice before taking to social media to vent their frustrations.
Baber says that it hurts to see the amount of negativity the players have to go through when they lose a tournament in the World Rugby Series.
He says fans must understand what the players go through when they are away from home for such big tournaments.
“There is a lot of expectation on the shoulders of the boys. As I say they never play at home in the World Rugby Sevens Series, they are overseas the whole time. When they get criticise like that it hurts. It hurts particularly they know their loved ones are here reading that same information. Same for me, I can deal with it, I’m a big boy and understand what comes with that but for young kids who are 19 and 20 years of age that tough.”
Meanwhile, The Fiji 7s side kicks off its Hamilton tournament campaign against Wales at 10.52am on Saturday week then faces Argentina at 2.42pm and plays Australia in its last pool match at 6.52pm.
The Cup quarter-final begins at 10.36am on Sunday, Cup semifinal starts at 3.16pm and the final is scheduled for 7.10pm.
