Baber admits criticism helped them in Hamilton

February 5, 2018 5:04 pm

Fiji Airways men’s 7s coach Gareth Baber says the level of criticism against them on social media following their poor performance in Sydney has caused them to better their game in Hamilton over the weekend.

Baber says Fiji is known as a proud sporting nation because of our high expectation when it comes to 7s.

“It is tough and you got to reinvent the team and you have to create a culture about them to go and win games and we haven’t had them until recently and now we look like going into the right direction.”

Opposition Leader Ro Teimumu Kepa also congratulated the team for a good performance in Hamilton.

Meanwhile, more than one hundred fans turned out at the Nadi International Airport yesterday to welcome our Fiji Airways men’s 7s side after their successful outings in Hamilton over the weekend.

Fans and families celebrated Eroni Sau’s 28th birthday at the Nadi airport.

The national 7s side will take a week off from training before march into camp to prepare for the Las Vegas tournament which will be held from the 2nd to the 4th of next month.

Fiji is pooled with Kenya, France, and Russia in Pool A in Las Vegas.
